Death Of Millions: Statistics and tragedy
10/05/04 || Lord K Philipson
Oh, that’s a cool name. Seriously, I mean it.
That´s the first thing that strikes me. The second one is that they have a vocalist whose eyes looks in 2 directions at the same time. The third is that he’s very low in the mix. If you have one of those crosseyed bastards at the mike and play death metal with blastbeats, there’s a huge chance of me liking it. Death Of Milions sound like any other death metal band, not worse, not better. They are as American as McDonalds to make the point for you.
If I got a song by these fuckers on a compilation-tape (I´m old-school) together with 10 other American death metal bands, I wouldn’t be able to pick them out, no matter what drugs I used. That’s how standard it is.
I can imagine the rehearsals… “Hey guys, i just wrote a song, it sounds like everything else death metal, it’s killer”. That’s exactly how I feel when hearing these guys. Competent but boring in the longrun. The sound isn’t exactly the most wonderful thing since Forsbergs’ goal in the Lillehammer Olympics, but I guess that’s a choice made conciouslyby the band, coz old-school is so cool. After some listenings to this album, not a shit has stuck in my head. Like in regular life I guess. It’s not like we are talking Alice Deejay-quality here, so what do you crave from me?
If you are in desperate need of another death metal band for your collection to impress yer imaginary friends with, Death Of Millions will do just fine. I´m going to let it collect dust with the rest of my boring promo´s.
4 million dead out of 10 millions.
